Textbook Capitalism is a site
students can use to post class-related materials for sale to other UMBC
students. This web site is run by the UMBC Student Government Association, an
organization run by and for UMBC students. While the SGA is committed to
consulting with the UMBC administration about the accuracy and appropriateness
of information posted here, the UMBC administration does not directly control
and can make no guarantees about any of the site's content.
Appropriate Content
Listings on Textbook Capitalism may not contain obscenities or threats or they
will be removed at the discretion of the web site operators. The site's purpose
is geared more towards textbooks, but other materials directly related to
classes, such as Classroom Participation System (CPS) remotes and study CDs
purchased in the bookstore, can also be posted. Keep in mind that all postings
are subject to review and can be removed at any time for any reason.
Student Information
All student information on this web site is obtained directly from the student
that created the account and is not provided by UMBC at any time. As stated on
the registration page, we only release student information with the student's
explicit permission or as required by law and protect it to the extent required
by SGA, UMBC, state, and federal policies. There are two exceptions to
this rule:
-
Book Listings: The first and last name of the student selling a
book is displayed on the listing.
-
Questions and Purchase Requests: The first and last name and the
E-Mail address of a student with a question or a purchase request is sent to
the student to whom the question or request is sent. From that point
communication between students is strictly through standard E-Mail and occurs
outside of Textbook Capitalism.
Questions about anything above can be directed to sga@umbc.edu.
